Dateland is a tiny settlement just outside of Yuma County, Arizona. It is most notable for its agriculture and growing Medjool dates. Besides the date groves, Dateland used to be the site of a military airfield. And just outside of town were camps that allowed the military to train in harsh conditions during World War II.
Yuma is located at the extreme southwest corner of Arizona where the state borders California just north of the Mexican border. A true oasis in the desert, Yuma was originally settled as a crossing point at the Colorado River for California settlers. Today, the dry desert climate is the main attraction.
